White House Convenes Defense Firms to Boost Weapons Production After Iran Strikes Drain Stockpiles
The Trump administration is convening major defense contractors at the White House on Friday to accelerate weapons manufacturing after recent military operations against Iran significantly depleted U.S. munitions stockpiles. Companies including Lockheed Martin and RTX (Raytheon) have been invited to attend, organized after Deputy Defense Secretary Steve Feinberg held a preparatory call with select contractors Wednesday. Lockheed Martin recently secured a seven-year deal to increase PAC-3 missile interceptor production to 2,000 units annually from roughly 600, and plans to quadruple THAAD missile production to 400 per year. The White House is expected to request approximately $50 billion in supplemental defense funding to replace weapons used in recent conflicts.
