Congress Blocks Iran War Powers Constraints: Senate Fails 47-53, House Rejects 212-219
Both chambers of Congress on March 4 rejected measures that would have constrained President Trump's military authority in the Iran conflict. The Senate voted 47-53 to block a war powers resolution sponsored by Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA), with only Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) crossing party lines in support and Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) voting against. Hours later, the House voted 212-219 to reject a companion measure that would have required congressional approval for further military action against Iran under the 1973 War Powers Act.
